The Lost and Found Soundscape

Soundwalk & Concert with Nhi Yen Cao & Flo Huth

The Lost and Found Soundscape is a participatory event that brings together acoustic experience, culture and memory. We’ll start with a guided soundwalk, inviting participants to explore the urban soundscape around PORT25 through active listening. The artist Nhi Yen Cao will lead the soundwalk and a brief debriefing in English. Afterwards, we will listen to a 4-channel soundscape by Nhi, constructed from field recordings, oral histories and acoustic memories of the Vietnamese diaspora in Germany. This unique sound archive offers us an insightful perspective on acoustic nostalgia, cultural resilience and the way in which we construct our concept of home through sound. Afterwards, sound artist Flo Huth will perform an interpretation based on Nhi’s recordings.

BBK Werkgespräch #18 with Cordula Hilgert and Nina Kruser

In these artist talks, artists from the BBK Mannheim present their work using a selection of original pieces, discussing their approaches, intentions and the creative processes behind their artistic practice. The BBK Mannheim’s artist talks provide a platform for artists and an interested audience. The focus is on dialogue and exchange.

 ELSEWHERE & BEYOND THE HORIZON

Staying at home for the holidays? Time for some day trips!

Until 16 August 2026, the Kunsthalle Karlsruhe is showing the exhibition "Nanne Meyer. Gezieltes Umherirren" in the Orangery. An essayistic exploration of the exhibition venue, the colour orange, the citrus fruit of the same name, life and the cosmos. The catalogue is also highly recommended! And the adjoining botanical garden is a little oasis.

You can revel in colour at the "Helen Frankenthaler" exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Basel until 23 August 2026. (And, whilst you’re at it, reflect on the role of female artists in the art world.)

Incidentally, on 15 August 2026, the exhibition “Flowers blooming from our crotches” will open at the Klingental exhibition space in Basel, featuring, amongst other things, works by Maria Mayland. Maria Mayland will be exhibiting at PORT25 from the end of November as part of “Deltabeben”.
